Listen to haunting notes from an 18,000-year-old conch shell trumpet

Very impressive to see how this was worked out to determine, what, precisely, the shell was used for and how it was worked into the current form that it holds. Especially as, contrary to the popular imagery, the conch shell needed to be manipulated in multiple ways via tool use before being played. They are not ready made trumpets.
