The 8th Continent

Is apparently hiding under New Zealand. According to a study published yesterday, the landmass surrounding New Zealand, even though most of it is underwater, meets the primary criteria for being considered a separate continent. It’s a fairly technical argument, and doesn’t change the actual above-sea geometry of the earth, but does create a point of contention going forward for geologists.
