Today would have been science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke’s 93rd birthday, and a space and astronomy enthusiast from Sri Lanka suggested we should post something on Universe Today to remember this man who had a striking vision of the future. I found this video of Clarke, in 1964, predicting what the world might be like in the year 2000. What’s interesting is that today, I “attended” press conferences in San Fransisco, communicated with people all around the world almost instantaneously, and wrote about events taking place millions of kilometers away, almost just like Clarke predicts in this video.
For more on Clarke’s life, see Prasanna Deshapriya’s blog post from today.
