Avoiding the use of solid boosters for NASA’s new HLV

Henry Spencer says the NASA authorization bill does not in fact require that the agency’s proposed heavy lifter use ATK’s solid rocket boosters and he explains why it’s not really a good idea to use SRBs anyway: Politics should not dictate design of NASA rockets – New Scientist.
