Much as I love the idea of low cost, high efficiency nuclear power, I don’t think it’s a good idea to use for access to space from earth’s atmosphere. Once we’re in orbit, or travelling between the celestial bodies, by all means, use it. It’s almost certainly the best we have there. But to leave our atmosphere? How about something other than a repurposed nuclear bomb.
