The number of entrants in phase two of NASA’s Commercial Crew Development (CCDev) program who have been contacted to provide further information has expanded again and now numbers eight. Excalibur Almaz says they have been contacted by NASA to come to Houston to discuss their proposal: List of NASA CCDev Callbacks Grows to Eight – SpaceNews.com.
Originally Space News said six firms had been contacted but shortly thereafter changed the number to seven when ATK added its name to the list.
The eight include: /– ATK/Astrium (“Liberty” rocket.) /– Blue Origin /– Boeing (CST-100) /– Excalibur Almaz /– Orbital Sciences Corp. (Prometheus lifting body) /– Sierra Nevada Corp. (Dream Chaser) /– SpaceX /– United Launch Alliance (ULA) – mods to Atlas V for launching crew vehicles
Excalibur Almaz is located in the Isle of Man but they most likely have US partners in their proposal.
