Big public Space Center planned near Vandenberg

The California Space Center, which would be located near Vandenbrerg AFB, would be a combination education, entertainment and business facility: Liftoff for Space Center: Groundbreaking expected this year near Lompoc – Pacific Coast Business Times (via spacetoday.net).

The California Space Authority, which is promoting the project, says,

> The California Space Center is a multi-faceted, multi-year project that will inspire young people with space, science, math and engineering educational activities and offer space-related facilities, entertainment and cultural exhibits. The Center will also educate the public regarding California space enterprise, including Vandenberg Air Force Base, the three NASA centers within the state, and commercial space activities. This project touches three key elements: Education, Cultural and Natural Resources, and History. This truly makes the California Space Center a unique and authentic destination from which to view launches. The Center will attract visitors from the local area as well as the nation and the globe.
