A message from Photos To Space:
Photos To Space Supports Leading Infant Health Organization Percentage of sales donated to First Candle
[Strasburg, PA – January 2011] In an effort to raise funds and create awareness that saves infant lives, Photos To Space has launched a new partnership with First Candle; a leading national nonprofit dedicated to infant health and survival. Photos To Space will be donating 10% of their sales from their next flight, planned April of this year. The proceeds will be used to support critically needed SIDS and stillbirth research, education and bereavement support programs at First Candle.
“First Candle is excited to align with Photos To Space on this innovative program”, said Dr. Marian Sokol, President of First Candle. “With SIDS as the leading cause of death for babies one month to one year of age, and more than 25,000 stillbirths in the United States each year, there is much work to be done. The proceeds from this event will be used to help ensure that every baby is given the best possible chance to reach not only their first birthday, but many happy ones beyond.”
“In 1998, I lost my son Joshua to SIDS”, said Joe Latrell, CEO of Photos To Space. “It is a difficult event for any family to go through. We are proud to partner with First Candle to help increase awareness of their cause. It is one way that we as a company can give back to the community.”
Photos To Space sends personal photos to space and back in a custom digital container stored on space bound rockets. When the photos return, they are incorporated into a customized flight certificate that participants can print out and share. Their next launch is to commemorate the 50th anniversary of manned flight.
