NanoSail-D remains silent

Though it appeared that NanoSail-D had successfully ejected from the FASTSAT spacecraft back on Monday, it’s beacon has yet to be detected: NanoSail-D Update – Centauri Dreams.

According to this timeline (pdf), the solar sail is on a timer to deploy 3 days after ejection. If it is just the beacon transmitter that is dead, perhaps the sail will deploy anyway and be seen from the ground.

The first NanoSail-D spacecraft was on the third Falcon 1 launch in 2008 that failed to get to orbit.
